Intruder Alarms

Commercial intruder alarms designed around your site

An intruder alarm is often the first system to tell you that something is wrong at your premises. For commercial sites that are empty at night or at weekends, or only partly occupied around the clock, it is an essential layer of protection.

MSME Security designs and installs intruder alarm systems for commercial and industrial premises across the East Midlands. We look at every way into the building, the areas that hold the most value, and how your people use the site, then design detection and setting arrangements to suit.

Because we also install CCTV, access control and yard lighting, your intruder alarm can be part of a joined up system. An alarm activation can be checked against camera footage, and setting the alarm can be linked to your access control so the building is secured in one step.

What we install

What a commercial intruder alarm can include

  • Internal motion detection

Detectors chosen for each area, including dual technology detectors that help reduce false alarms in warehouses and workshops.

  • Door and shutter contacts

Contacts on doors, roller shutters and loading bay doors so you know the moment a perimeter opening is breached.

  • External detection

Detection for yards, compounds and perimeters, giving early warning before anyone reaches the building.

  • Zones and part setting

Set the warehouse while offices are still occupied, or protect a high value store around the clock.

  • Keypads and remote control

Clear keypads at entrances, with the option to set, unset and check the system remotely from an app.

  • Remote monitoring options

Systems can be connected to remote monitoring so that activations are responded to even when nobody is on site.

Typical uses

Who we install intruder alarms for

  • Warehouses and logistics sites

Large buildings with many openings, mezzanines and loading doors, often with areas in use while others are empty.

  • Industrial units

Workshops and units holding tools, plant and materials that are attractive to thieves.

  • Offices

Protection for IT equipment and records out of hours, with simple setting for the last person out.

  • Retail and trade counters

Shop floors, stock rooms and trade counters protected when the doors are locked.

Good to know

Designing an alarm that works for your site

A good intruder alarm detects genuine intrusion quickly while avoiding the false alarms that cause staff to stop taking it seriously. That comes down to choosing the right detector for each space, positioning it properly and setting it up for how the area is used.

Large commercial buildings rarely have one simple pattern of use. Shift work, deliveries and staff working late all affect how a system should be zoned and set. We plan this with you during the consultation so the system fits the way your business runs.

Once installed, regular maintenance keeps detectors, batteries and communication paths working. Your engineer will recommend a maintenance schedule suited to the system.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about intruder alarms

Can part of my building be alarmed while staff are still working?

Yes. We can divide the system into zones so you can set areas such as the warehouse floor while offices or welfare areas remain in use.

Can I set and unset the alarm remotely?

Many modern systems can be controlled from a smartphone app, letting authorised users set, unset and check the system from anywhere.

How do you reduce false alarms?

By choosing the right detector for each space, positioning it carefully and configuring the system for how the area is used. Dual technology detectors are often a good choice in warehouses and workshops.

Can an intruder alarm work with CCTV?

Yes. Linking your alarm with CCTV means activations can be checked against footage, helping you or a monitoring service decide on the right response.

Do intruder alarms need servicing?

Yes. Regular maintenance checks detectors, batteries, sounders and communication paths. Your engineer will recommend a schedule after installation.
